Fr. David, Pastor:
Fr. David Kenney is the Pastor of the Church of St. Augustine. He was incardinated in the ECC in 2005, the year our parish also joined the ECC. Previously, Fr. David had been incardinated in the American Old Catholic Church. Before embracing the Independent Catholic movement, Fr. David had served as Associate Rector of The Church of the Transfiguration in Evergreen, and as Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Colorado Springs.
He is a certified Spiritual Director, a board-certified Chaplain, and an Ethicist in Health Care. He is a principal in the Clinical Ethics Consultancy, LLC, doing training and providing ethics consults for hospitals and physician practices.
One of Fr. David's great joys is the ministry of marriage preparation. Each year, he works with 10 or more couples, providing each with many hours of counseling and companionship as they prepare for their married lives together.
Fr. David's graduate work led to completion of an MA in Systematic Theology, a Masters of Divinity, and a Masters in Bioethics and Health Policy. He is now at work on his Doctorate in Bioethics at Loyola University Chicago.
A proud father (Dave Jr., 39, and Josh, 36) and grandfather of three (Caitlin, Aidan and Ryder), Fr. David is a lifelong Colorado native. His family was in the highway construction business for four generations, and Fr. David was building highway bridges for nearly 20 years before answering a renewed call to ordained ministry, which had been his first love and vocation as a young Jesuit.
